Our good friend,
Berne, who I credit with "If you’ve got the ability and opportunity… and you’re NOT doing it… then you’re doing it wrong," is racing in the
45th Baja 1000 today! He'll be co-driving the second leg (of four) in the #401 Shaffer Motorsports car.

B, driving down to King of the Hammers 2010 |
He and his wife drove down from Portland, picking up a photographer, a spare transmission and who knows what else before crossing the border into Ensenada. They spent the weekend and the earlier part of the week pre-running and getting set up. This year, the race will start in Ensenada and zig-zag down the peninsula,
covering 1,121.55 miles before it
reaches the finish line in La Paz. Hurricane Paul did severe damage in Baja Sur only a few weeks ago, so flooding,
washouts and wind damage caused some re-routing of
the course.

Lighting up the night in Baja |
He's hanging out near Guerrero Negro (according to his SPOT tracker), waiting for his turn to go fast. I may talk DH into taking me for chilaquiles on Saturday, just so I can have my little taste of Baja. ;)
